China has an annual output more than $300 billion in forest products rising at an almost unsustainable rate, with production rising an incredible 27% in 2010 over the previous year. This makes China World number 1 for Flooring, Panel Products, Bamboo and Rattan Furniture. The rate is set to increase again at these levels in 2011.
China intends to increase its forest coverage rate to 21.66% by the end of 2015 from 2008 levels of 20.36% or 195 million hectares of forest. During 2004 - 2008 China undertook its 7th survey of China's forestry resources, mobilising more than 20,000 scientists and forestry workers.
